It’s tempting to believe that we can burn away our mounting waste crisis in incinerators, but the unfortunate truth is that waste incineration or so-called “waste-to-energy” makes the problem even worse. These facilities are toxic to human health and the environment, increase climate pollution, waste money, and undermine waste reduction. As part of the Global Action Lab, this virtual event will outline the common trends found in 20 case studies of incinerator fights worldwide, as well as stories directly from GAIA members’ campaigns. The event will also debut GAIA’s new community guide, with the latest science and best practices for groups fighting incineration in their municipalities.
