Membership Leadership Bodies

Head of the Mother Earth Foundation (MEF) Board, the policy making body, in close coordination with the president and the trustees. As an official representative of MEF, I promoted MEF as an advocate of zero waste, anti- incineration, and environmental justice, a plastic pollution warrior, in fora, FGDs, meetings, conferences, and congressional hearings. 

Sonia  is a graduate of B.S Chemistry, and a founding member of Mother Earth Foundation She underwent ZW training at the Berkeley Ecology Center under the GAIA ZW Fellowship Program in 2002. She was the NGO Commissioner at the Philippine National Solid Waste Management Commission inn 2001- 2005. She is a member of the GAIA Regional Advisory Committee, board member of GAIA Philippines,  board Member of ZWIA (ZW International Alliance), and a member of the Break Free From Plastic. She serves as a resource person on ecological solid waste management/ZW to local government units, schools, business offices, church organizations, civic organizations, and in congressional hearings. She has helped establish ZW model communities in the Philippines. Under her leadership, MEF worked with Philippine cities and communities to implement Republic Act 9003 or The Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000.
