What
is the WNA Meeting 2004?
The
WNA Meeting 2004 is a gathering of people from Asia who
share a vision of building a Zero Waste society through
sustainable consumption, clean production, Zero Waste and
ecology-friendly approaches to managing discards. At the
WNA meeting, we talk about issues and solutions, foster
skills and linkages, and inspire and support grassroots
activism. The first WNA meeting was held in Bangkok, Thailand
in 2000, then in Taipei, Taiwan in 2001 and most recently
in Penang, Malaysia in 2003 during the GAIA Global Meeting.
The WNA has evolved as GAIA’s regional platform in
Asia.
The meeting will be hosted by Korea Zero Waste Movement
Network (www.waste21.or.kr).
When
and where the WNA Meeting will take place?
The
WNA Meeting 2004 will be held from 21 to 24 June 2004 at
the Ho-am Faculty House within the Seoul National University
(www.hoam.ac.kr).
Who
will participate?
Over
a hundred participants from 15 countries will participate
in the WNA 2004 Meeting. They are promoters and practitioners
of Zero Waste and sustainable discard systems, community
activists campaigning against waste incinerators and for
alternatives, clean production specialists, environmentalists,
civic leaders, government and media representatives, and
others seeking real solutions to Asia’s mounting waste
problems.
