After a meeting of the Tizayuca Communities and the Hidalgo State Government, the Tizayuca incinerator project was temporarily cancelled in order to better address community concerns, including lack of transparency throughout the process.

The community will be holding a series of meetings on the legal and environmental irregularities of the project the coming weeks, with the goal of achieving demanding a permanent cancellation.

“We think this is a great advance because it allows us to present strong arguments, based in the best science, on the impacts that the incinerator would have in the industrial region of Tizayuca-Temascalapa.”
