On April 17th in Parma,
Italy, a major demonstration
in favour of Zero Waste and against incineration will be taking place,
gathering people from all over Italy
and abroad.
Parma is in the most polluted area of Europe, the Po Valley
(known as the FoodValley), and the city is facing the threat of an
incinerator to burn 130,000 tonsof waste per year being built right in Parma. The participants will be calling for the
implementation of a Zero Waste strategy based on prevention, reuse, recycling
and composting that will contribute towards cleaning up the valley and introducing
sustainability in the way resources are managed throughout the region. This is a demonstration not just against the proposed
incinerator for Parma, but against ALL
incinerators, proposed or already functioning, all over Italy.
We invite all those fighting for a change of
paradigm in order to create a clean and sustainable future to join us on this
important day.
The organizers (Associazione "Coordinamento
Corretta Gestione Rifiuti e Risorse") are offering to coordinate accommodation
for those coming from outside Parma. They
are also organizing a dinner buffet after the demonstration, with a cost
of max.10 euro a head.
