Take Action Now to stop the U.S. Army from burning lethal chemical weapons in Anniston, Alabama, U.S.!
ACTION ALERTS

Calhoun County, Alabama in the U.S. is home to a stockpile of World War II era chemical weapons, including lethal nerve and mustard agents. The good news is the U.S. Army is getting rid of its old chemical weapons. The bad news: in Alabama and three other communities, the Army wants to get rid of chemical weapons by burning them in dangerous incinerators, and they want to start burning soon!

The Chemical Weapons Working Group (CWWG) and our ally groups have successfully prevented chemical weapons incinerators at four other U.S. chemical weapons stockpile sites, in favor of safe, non-incineration neutralization methods. Yet the Army is refusing to consider those same methods for Alabama and the other sites.

This puts hundreds of workers, and more than 75,000 people at immediate risk of exposure to chemical agents. Its unsafe, unnecessary and completely unacceptable!

Please take action to stop the incineration of chemical weapons by sending a message to Alabama Governor Bob Riley.

To send an email, go to the following website and fill in the blanks on the form. If you are not from the U.S. simply enter your country and local code wherever you can fit it (please fill in all blanks or your message will not go through).
http://www.governor.state.al.us/email/contact_form.htm

In the subject of your message, please say what country you are writing from. In your message, please urge him to say no to incineration, and protect his citizens by using safer methods of weapons disposal.

For more information please visit the CWWG website at www.cwwg.org, or email Elizabeth Crowe at elizabeth@cwwg.org.
