A new article shows that informal recycling done by the waste pickers in China offers is a solution for waste management and air pollution, and a key alternative to incineration. Chen Liwen, a researcher with Nature University says that the informal recycling system is widespread and efficient, and the government should be focused on supporting this system and improving recycling levels.
